Historical Reader

Though the French and Indian War ended in victory for the British in 1763, the prize of full control over Canada and most of North America brought the British Empire more problems than it imagined. In order to secure its newly won territory in the North and West, Britain imposed a number of encroaching restrictions on the colonies, resulting in an angry division that would eventually lead to revolutionary war. This collection:
  • presents key documents and memoirs from the period
  • offers literary perspectives on the times
  • documents the era in print and photographs
